The Flathead Conservation District (FCD) offers up to four $500 scholarships to local high school students wishing to pursue a college degree in a natural resource field.
- The FCD scholarship is open to all high school seniors of Flathead County.
- Other eligibility requirements include Flathead County residency, a minimum grade point average of 2.5, and plans to enroll or enrollment in an appropriate course of study including agriculture, agribusiness, animal/range science, forestry, environmental science/engineering, land resources, plant science, hydrology, etc.
- Students may receive a scholarship only once.
- Applications must be received at the FCD office by April 15th.
- If you are awarded a scholarship, we will need your Social Security Number (for accounting/tax purposes) and the name, address, phone number and contact person for the school you will be attending. Check will be issued directly to the school.
In addition to this signed application form, please submit:
- A letter of recommendation from an instructor familiar with your work;
- Your official transcript listing courses taken and grades received;
- An original essay 300-500 words, demonstrating your understanding of the importance of conservation. Describe how your education and experiences have given you the opportunity to explore natural resource conservation. Conclude with how you plan to put your knowledge into practice in the future.
